He then issued a public plea days after for cash to help fund his legal fight against the claims and launched a donation page.
On the page, titled Stop Dan Wootton being cancelled by far left online smears, Dan wrote: “A hard left blog is on a deranged campaign of harassment designed to destroy me financially, mentally and professionally – but, with your help, they will not succeed.
“Byline Times has eschewed all journalistic, legal and moral practices to publish a series of defamatory and untrue claims as part of a highly politicised witch hunt designed to cancel and de-platform me.
“Byline have already come for the likes of the Free Speech Union, the Legatum Institute, GB News and Douglas Murray who received substantial damages for their lies.”
He concluded with: “Now they and others want to silence me.”
So far, Dan has managed to raise £34,330 for legal fees – with a target of £150,000 yet to be reached.
It is alleged that Wootton offered colleagues sums of money in return for sexual material.
Wootton's ex-boyfriend, Alex Truby, claimed that Wootton, adopting the pseudonym Martin Branning, made financial offers to individuals to capture themselves engaging in intimate acts on camera.
The claims surfaced after Truby reportedly gained access to Wootton's hard drive back in 2013.
Byline Times recently published a bombshell report, unveiling an anonymous yet "trusted former colleague" of the GB News anchor, who came forward to expose Wootton's alleged use of the infamous Branning name.
Many of the allegations relate to the time when Wootton was employed by The Sun, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News UK.
A spokesperson for News UK said: “We’re looking into the allegations made in recent days. We are not able to make any further comment at this stage.”

Wootton's ex Alex since responded to the presenter's statement on GB News on Twitter.
He wrote: "This evening @danwootton has said in his lead segment on @GBNews that I 'abused him' and have made up some very serious allegations just to get him 'cancelled'. This is false.
“I stand by every word I have tweeted. This story will continue to develop and after hearing from others, the full truth will come out."
