Elvis Presley affair: ‘It HAD to end’ – Ann-Margret speaks out on relationship with King

Elvis Presley made his transition to the big screen in the late ’50s, putting him in the limelight for another set of reasons. Perhaps the most controversial it ever got, however, was when he started working on the huge hit song Viva Las Vegas.

Viva Las Vegas finished production in September of 1963, and it saw the King really delving into his acting prowess.

However, over the course of his time on the production, Presley came under fire from the press.

After being introduced to his costar Ann-Margret, a number of rumours sprouted suggesting the pair were engaged in some sort of affair.

It eventually came out that the pair were having an affair, according to Priscilla Presley’s tell-all book “Elvis and Me”.

According to the book, Elvis later broke off the affair with Ann-Margret and went back to Priscilla, confessing to it all.

In 1994 Ann-Margret wrote her own autobiography where she spoke of Elvis, and gave her take on her time working with him.

On meeting the King for the first time, Ann-Margret wrote: “‘Elvis Presley, I’d like you to meet a wonderful young lady, Ann-Margret,’ said George Sidney.

“‘Ann-Margret, this is Elvis Presley.’ The significance was lost on Elvis and me. I reached out my hand and he shook it gently.

“‘I’ve heard a lot about you,’ we said at the same time, which made us laugh and broke the ice.”

Although it has been well documented that the pair engaged in an affair, she later explained why she felt it all had to come to an end.

Referencing Priscilla, Ann-Margret wrote: “There were other factors in Elvis’s life that forced him apart from me, and I understood them.

“Elvis had always been honest with me, but still it was a confusing situation.”

Detailing the final period fo their relationship, she added: “We continued to see each other periodically, until we had dated for almost a year. Then everything halted.

“We knew the relationship had to end, that Elvis had to fulfil his commitment.”

This “commitment” was, of course, to marry Priscilla, which he did in 1967.

Ann-Margret was supposedly the only actor friend of Elvis’ to attend his funeral in 1977.

Since Presley’s death, fans have become convinced that, perhaps, he is not actually dead after all.

And most recently, fans have begun pointing out one person who attended Michael Jackson’s funeral, suggesting it was actually the King in disguise.

Looking at a photo of the person who attended Jackson’s funeral, fans said it simply must be Elvis.

The man in question has long greying hair, a strong jaw, a fedora, and black sunglasses.
