Elvis Presley lived his final day in the early hours of August 16, 1977, having returned to Graceland from the dentist around midnight. The King called up his cousin Billy Smith and his wife Jo for a game in the racquetball court with Ginger Alden around 4am. Elvis slept all day and was awake all night, so this was not irregular timings for the Memphis Mafia.

It’s long been rumoured that in his final few hours Elvis somehow made the rain stop with a wave of his hand.

Now in a new interview with Billy and Jo on the Memphis Mafia Kid YouTube channel, the couple have confirmed the truth of the matter.

Jo said: “[It was a] coincidence, but it did happen. That’s a true story. We were actually walking under the cover that led down from Graceland and it was raining.

“We were walking about and I don’t know who commented, ‘Oh no it’s started to rain.’”
