Today saw Priscilla Presley announce that her 95-year-old mother Anna Lillian Iversen aka Ann Wagner aka Ann Beaulieu has died. Elvis Presley’s ex-wife shared a picture of her mother by some flowers and wrote: “I am heartbroken. My beautiful mother passed today. She was the light of our lives. She never wanted any attention on herself. Her children were her everything. May you Rest In Peace mom. You will always be with us.”
The former mother-in-law of Elvis Presley was the daughter of Albert Henry Iversen, who was born in Egersund, Norway.
He would go on to emigrate to the United States where he married a woman of Scots-Irish and English descent called Lorraine.
And together they would have their only child Anna (later known as Ann), who was born in March 1926.
As a teenager during the Second World War, she began dating a US Navy pilot called James Wagner, the son of Harold and Kathryn Wagner.

The 23-year-old James married the 18-year-old Anne who became Ann Wagner on August 10, 1944, after over three years of dating.
Then, after the war came to an end on May 24, 1945, she gave birth to Priscilla Wagner.
However, tragedy struck when James was killed in a plane crash just six months later while returning home on leave.
In 1948, Ann Wagner met her second husband who she would marry within the year, US Air Force officer Paul Beaulieu (who died in 2018 in the California home Elvis bought him).
Ann and Priscilla took her stepfather’s surname upon adoption and the family would move across the US for his Air Force work at different bases.
But then in 1956, just as a young man named Elvis Presley was shooting up the charts, Paul was transferred to Wiesbaden, Germany.
The family started off living in the Helene Hotel before renting a pre-World War 1 large apartment which they later realised was a former brothel.
A couple of years later on September 13, 1959, a 14-year-old Priscilla met a 24-year-old Elvis during his army service at the star’s home in Bad Nauheim.

Priscilla’s parents James and Ann were not pleased with how late their daughter was coming home from her first meeting with Elvis.
At first, they insisted she never saw The King again, however, they changed their mind when the star promised never to bring her home late again.
Elvis and Priscilla continued to see each other until his army service ended in March 1960, when he returned home to Graceland.
However, the future husband and wife kept in touch on the phone and were reunited in the summer of 1962, when her parents agreed she could visit for two weeks.
James and Ann were happy for the visits to take place as long as Elvis paid for first-class travel, made sure Priscilla was chaperoned at all times and that she wrote home every day.
Then in March 1963 after a Christmas visit, Priscilla’s parents allowed her to move to Memphis for good.
She would go to the all-girls Catholic school, the Immaculate Conception High School and live with Elvis’ father Vernon and his second wife Dee Stanley a few streets away from Graceland, until she graduated from high school in June 1963. Although she did permanently move into the mansion pretty soon after moving to Memphis.
And, of course, part of this agreement was that Elvis would eventually marry Priscilla, who was 18 at this point, which they eventually did on May 1, 1967, in Las Vegas. The couple had their only daughter Lisa Marie together before their divorce in 1973.
