Mark Page has been found guilty on four counts of child sex crimes.

The former Radio 1 DJ and Middlesborough football stadium announcer was handed a guilty verdict on four counts of child sex offences, and not guilty on one.

It came when the radio broadcaster, 62, appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday (March 9).

The 62-year-old was charged with five counts of arranging the commission of a child sex offence – arranging the sexual exploitation of a child in the Philippines.

Page had previously "vehemently denied" the allegations against him.

Thanking the jury, the judge said: "You have carried out your duties as jurors in an exemplary manner. You have shown super devotion to your job.

Page will be sentenced on Thursday (March 10).

Announcing the sentencing, the judge said: "I will be passing sentence on Mr Page in the morning at 10.15. If any of you wish to attend you can of course and will be allocated a seat in the courtroom."

The broadcaster is currently remanded in custody until his sentencing tomorrow.

Page previously told the court he lost his 25-year career with Middlesbrough FC after police turned up at his home with a warrant in January 2020.

The radio presenter used to work for Radio 1 back in the 1980s, and he also worked as a stadium announcer for Middlesbrough FC.

Henri Brandman, Page's solicitor, said his client strongly denied the alleged offences and would defend himself against the charges."

In a statement last year, he said: "Mr Page vehemently denies the alleged offences and will vigorously defend himself against the charges.

"He has had business, military and charitable interests in the Philippines for a number of years."

Between 1983 and 1986, Page was the presenter of the BBC Radio 1 early weekend breakfast show.

He started out radio presenting on BBC Radio Cleveland in 1975 and hosted the breakfast show on Radio Tees from 1978 to 1983.

When Pat Sharp left Radio 1 in 1983, Page was offered the 6-8 am slot on weekend mornings, he titled the show Me Mark Page.
