AceShowbiz –Gunna continues releasing new music videos amid his incarceration. The YSL Records artist, who is currently behind bars awaiting to go on trial for RICO charges, dropped a performance video of “Missing Me” on Wednesday, July 20.
The footage showcases the emcee rapping in his mournful lyric in an all-white outfit in front of a stunning oceanic backdrop. “I was hoping that you’d notice me/ I’m in the sky, baby, shine like a star, baby/ And I know you don’t believe in me/ It’s in my heart, baby, I’m goin’ hard, baby,” he spits.
The visuals concludes with Gunna’s handwritten note, in which he maintains his innocence. The content of the letter was previously shared on Instagram back in June. “Growing up from where I come from in a marginalized neighborhood, I never dreamt my art would change my life and the lives of my loved ones,” it first read.
“My entire life, I’ve seen Black Men, Black Women and Black Children consistently attacked, hated, murdered, berated, belittled, silenced, judged, used and held captive,” he added. “For now, I don’t have my freedom. But I am innocent. I am being falsely accused and will never stop fighting to clear my name!”
“The picture that is being painted of me is ugly and untrue. My fans know I love to celebrate life, I love my family, I love travel, I love music, I love my fans,” the hip-hop star further noted. “I have all faith that God will grant me justice for the purity in my heart and the innocence of my actions.”
Gunna turned himself in to police in May and charged with a 56-count RICO alongside Young Thug and other members of YSL. Prosecutors claimed that he’s a member of the alleged Young Slime Life street gang. The charges against YSL include murder, carjacking, armed robbery, drug dealing and illegal firearm possessions.
