Hollywood royalty to soap star icon – famous actors you didnt know were related

Hollywood actress Pauline Chalamet is 30 years old today (January 25).

The King of Staten Island actress was born on January 25, 1992 and as her surname would suggest, she is part of a huge acting family that includes Dune star and heartthrob Timothee Chalamet.

The acting siblings are two of Hollywood's fastest rising stars, and they have regularly been seen out and about at events together.

They're not the only famous actors to be related though, with generations of stars following in the footsteps of their famous parents or siblings and becoming stars of their own.

To celebrate Pauline Chalamet's birthday, Daily Star takes a look at the famous siblings and other actors who are related.

Gary Oldman and Laila Morse

Academy Award winning actor Gary Oldman is not only one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but he is also the brother of another legend – EastEnders actress Laila Morse.

While Gary rose to fame starring in films including Bram Stoker's Dracula, Immortal Beloved, Sid & Nancy and Harry Potter as Sirius Black, Laila made a name for herself as Big Mo in the BBC soap.

Laila has also starred in films herself including Love, Honour and Obey and Great Expectations, but credits her brother as helping her land her first acting role in 1997's Nil By Mouth.

She told Loose Women: "My big brother wrote and directed Nil by Mouth. He just wanted something raw.

"He was with a friend and he just said, 'she could do that'. I just looked at him and went what? I can't do that.

"He said, come back to the hotel and read a bit, which I did…and he went, right you're doing it. That's the first thing I'd ever done."

Goldie Hawn and Wyatt Russell

Actor Wyatt Russell is known to a new generation of fans as John Walker in the Marvel TV series Falcon and The Winter Soldier, as well as appearing in hit Netflix series Black Mirror and films including Overlord and 22 Jump Street.

However, Wyatt is from a huge acting dynasty as his parents are none other than Hollywood royalty themselves – Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

His half-sister is also a-list actress and Fabletics founder Kate Hudson, who is known for films including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Almost Famous.

He and wife Meredith Hanger also welcomed their son Buddy in 2021, who is Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell's seventh grandchild and was born on Christmas Day.

Speaking about her family, mother and grandmother Goldie Hawn told Australian Woman's Weekly: "A good family is the answer to happiness. I look at our kids and grandchildren and there's nothing in the world that could make me as proud as I am of all of them."

Lily Allen and Alfie Allen

Pop star Lily Allen's link to her famous acting father Keith Allen is already well known, but she is not the only famous sibling in her family.

Lily's younger brother is Game of Thrones actor Alfie Allen, who has since appeared in TV dramas including White House Farm.

Not only that, but her hit 2007 single Alfie is actually about her little brother, who at the time was working teaching kids how to Snowboard in Canada, telling The Guardian: "I went on Myspace and listened to it, and I was… entertained. It’s a song about love, isn’t it? She was missing her little bro!

"She was on the rise. She was killing it. I was like: as long as it helps your creative juices flow, then go for it."

However he revealed that despite this, he did not want it to be released as a record, adding: "I just remember asking for it not to be a single – but then obviously record labels don’t give a s**t what family members think, do they? So that was that."

Bryce Dallas Howard and Ron Howard

Actress and film maker Bryce Dallas Howard is known for hit blockbuster films including Jurassic World, Petes Dragon and Rocketman.

She is also a film maker, which is no surprise as her father is the famous director Ron Howard, who not only made films including Rush, but also starred in the hit sitcom Happy Days.

However, her similar appearance to fellow Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain has even confused her own dad, with Ron Howard mistakenly thinking that Jessica was his daughter when he spotted her out and about.

Bryce told USA Today that "he was shook, he really was" following the incident.

Jessica Chastain had recently told the Associated Press about the incident, which occurred at an Apple Store, saying: "I was, like, walking by, I was like, 'Oh, that’s Ron Howard.

"And then my friend was with me (and) said he turned to someone, he goes, 'I think I just saw Bryce.' We look so much alike."

Denzel Washington and John David Washington

Denzel Washington is one of Hollywood's greatest actors, appearing in films including Training Day, Flight, American Gangster and The Bone Collector.

It seems that a talent for performance has run in the family too, as Denzel's son is John David Washington of Tenet fame.

John, who was a former American footballer, was encouraged by his dad to go into acting and to go to university to study his craft once his career began to rise.

Talking to Metro, Denzel shared how proud he was of John, saying: "By the grace of God, he had such success so quickly and once he got in it, then I was like, 'Okay, now you got to go back and learn what you’re doing', which he’s done.

"In fact, they’re on their way to Broadway next year. So he’s just grown as an actor, my oldest son."

He also added : ‘My youngest son is a filmmaker, my oldest daughter’s a producer, my other daughter’s an actress… Not that I’m bragging!"

Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner

Academy Award winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has had the lead role in some of Hollywood's biggest films including Sliding Doors, Shakespeare in Love and as Pepper Potts in Marvel's Iron Man films.

However, as well as being an actress and founder of business Goop, she is also the daughter of the famous actress Blythe Danner.

Blythe rose to fame in the seventies and had leading roles of her own in films including The X Files, Paul, The Lucky One and Meet the Parents.

Last year Gwyneth posted a sweet tribute to her mum on Instagram to celebrate Blythe Danner's 78th birthday, sharing a beautiful photo of mother and daughter smiling for the camera.

The photo was captioned: "this beautiful creature fills our hearts with so much warmth.

"She gets words and names mixed up in the most hilarious and unique of ways. She is full of life and incredibly strong.

"She loves her grandchildren more than anything in the world. She loves Bill Evans, eating leftovers and keeping her own company.

"I admire so many things about her and today is her birthday. Happy birthday from the bottom of our hearts, your family loves you so much mommy."

Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein

Beanie Feldstein rose to fame starring in hit TV series and films including How to Build A Girl, Booksmart and Lady Bird.

She's not the only famous actor in her family though, as her brother is comedian Jonah Hill.

Jonah is best known for comedy films including Superbad, 21 Jump Street, The Wolf of Wall Street and Don't Look Up.

The two also share a sweet bond, even though Jonah described the siblings as being like Bart and Lisa from The Simpsons when they were growing up.

However, the actor has also gushed about his sister and her career, telling Interview Magazine: "It truly makes me happy to see you [Beanie] getting to do things that actually fulfil you and challenge you."

Jason Sudeikis and George Wendt

Actor Jason Sudeikis is one of Hollywood's leading comedians, starring in films including Horrible Bosses, We're The Millers and critically acclaimed TV series Ted Lasso.

Long before he became one of the biggest names in comedy though, his famous uncle was making viewers around the world laugh in the hit series Cheers.

Jason's uncle is none other than Norm Peterson actor George Wendt, and the actor confirmed the connection to the famous actor in an interview with The Daily Mail, saying: "Yeah that is one of my uncles, George Wendt, yep that's my mother's younger brother."

It's a connection that has taken many people by surprise, with actress Drew Barrymore even revealing her shock to Jason Sudeikis during an interview on her talkshow, saying: "First of all, I did not realise your uncle was George Wendt – do you understand, Jason, that I always call myself Norm from Cheers?

"Because I’ve always been at the end of the bar, drinking that beer hanging out.

"I’m Norm, I’m just always around. I consider myself a fixture. I think Norm is the most positive, happy, fixture."

Pauline Chalamet and Timothee Chalamet

Timothee Chalamet is one of film's biggest stars, appearing in Call Me By Your Name, Don't Look Up and the critically acclaimed Dune.

His older sister Pauline has also followed in his footsteps by making a career u-turn from being a ballerina and instead, making her mark in the acting world starring in films such as The King of Staten Island.

Talking about her famous brother, Pauline said she is very proud of his success but doesn't understand the frenzy around his celebrity status, saying: "Timothée is a hard worker. When I see him on the big screen, for me that’s just the result of his job.

"As for the rest, I don’t really experience the frenzy around him. I guess it’s kind of crazy, but it doesn’t affect my life at all."
