After a 15-year-long career in the rap and hip-hop industry, Kanye West has definitely made a name for himself.
The rapper has not only dominated the music industry with his chart-topping hits and incredible producing skills, he has also shown the world that there is only one Kanye West.
Although he has had an amazing career thus far, it has been reported that West is looking to leave rap behind and focus solely on making gospel music.
With this being very sudden and unexpected, are fans taking this news lightly?
West reportedly is no longer making secular music
For the past few years, Kanye West has been a staple in the rap and hip-hop community for his chart-topping hits and his ability to create one of a kind beats.
Being one of the most critically acclaimed musicians of the 21st century and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, West has had a very successful career over the years and continues to reach new heights to this day.
Although many people have come to know and love the rapper for his hip-hop tracks, it seems like West might is looking to go in a different direction when it comes to his music.
It has been reported that Ye is looking to leave rap and hip-hop behind for a gospel only music career.
According to Andrew Barber of the Chicago hip-hop blog FakeShoreDrive, the rapper revealed the news during his second listening event for his ninth studio album, Jesus Is King, in his hometown of Chicago.
Barber reported that West no longer plans to make secular music in the future. Instead, he will be focusing solely on making gospel music and continuing his Sunday Service performances.
Although many of us can agree that Ye’s dedication to his faith most likely played a major part in this decision, we definitely didn’t see this coming.
While this is very shocking to most, how have fans reacted to this news?
Fans think that this is just a phase
Not being able to hear another rap or hip-hop track from Kanye West is definitely hard for many of us to wrap our heads around.
We has associated rap music with West for so many years, so the rapper now being known as a gospel artist will take some getting used to.
While some fans are sadden that West is giving up rap music for good, others aren’t too sure if this is actually happening.
Soon after Barber shared the news of West quitting rap on Twitter, fans began sharing their feelings on this unexpected announcement.
Many fans do not believe that Ye is going to give up rap music for good and are certain this phase will only last for a short while.
“It’s hard to completely believe any Kanye Announcement. Even though it may be made by Kanye itself,” one fan replied to Barber’s tweet.
Other fans are fine with the idea of the rapper strictly making gospel music, but just want him to release an album already.
“I dont care if he makes reggae just release the da*n album,” another fan wrote.
Neither West or his reps have commented on this report but we can easily assume that this is most likely happening and we’ll see how well fans respond to his Jesus Is King album once it finally drops.
