Jane McDonald, 59, has spoken publically about a spoof meme that said she had been appointed Secretary of State for cruise ships.
A picture had been circulated on social media that suggested that cruise ship star Jane had taken up a new role in Parliament.
Created in response to Rishi Sunak's cabinet reshuffle, the picture featured the 10 Downing Street logo, with the caption: “The RT HON Jane McDonald, appointed Secretary of State for Cruise Ships and Entertainment.”

Resharing the meme to her own Twitter page, Jane laughed at the mock-up, which is a reference to her show, Cruising with Jane McDonald.
She tweeted: “This is hilarious! A number of people have got in touch to congratulate me on this – just to confirm that it isn’t real. Someone put it on social media as a joke!”
Fans were in hysterics by the meme and even expressed their wishes to see Jane take on the made-up role.
One fan tweeted: “You’d have my vote!” another wrote: “You’d do a great job! X”
A third penned: “I can’t believe some people took this seriously. Not that you wouldn’t be amazing, of course,” while a fourth added: “Well, you jolly well should be.”
Jane is best known for taking us on cruising adventures around the world while treating viewers to renditions of classic and original songs.
However, the Yorkshire star has taken a step back from the limelight to spend more time with her family and friends.
Speaking to Kaye Adams on her podcast, Jane said: “I want to be here for my family.
"My niece is just about to have a baby and we’re all very excited about that. I want to be around for them all."
She added: “I think it’s made me realise, actually, how many summers have we got left. And I want to do so much. I want to go on holiday instead of filming one.”
Since those comments, McDonald has announced a new project with Channel 5, the home of her popular cruise holiday show.
Before moving into TV through the documentary series The Cruise, Jane had a singing career on cruise ships.
