Insisting that she’s not quitting the rapper’s Roc Nation empire due to an ‘explosive’ meeting between the two, the singer shares on Instagram a clip of the music video for ‘Heartbreaker’ which was released back in 1999.
AceShowbiz –Mariah Carey has a perfect response to rumors about her alleged feud with Jay-Z. Denying reports that she is quitting the rapper’s Roc Nation empire due to an “explosive” meeting between the two, the five-time Grammy winner took to social media to brag about their collaborative song, “Heartbreaker”.
On Monday, June 7, the 51-year-old shared on Instagram a clip of the music video for the 1999 track. In the accompanying message, she wrote, “The only ‘explosive’ situation I’d ever ‘get into’ with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song ‘Heartbreaker’!! To the people who make up these lies I say ‘Poof! -Vamoose, sonofa*****’!”
Mariah’s clapback came after a source told The Sun that she is parting ways with Roc Nation following a clash between her and Jay-Z. “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all,” the source said. “She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation. She will formally depart in the next few weeks.”
“It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse,” the insider further claimed. “Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps.”
A separate insider, meanwhile, spilled to PEOPLE that Mariah has indeed left Roc Nation. However, the fight news between her and Beyonce Knowles‘ husband was “completely made up.” The insider added, “The relationship with Roc Nation ended amicably and Mariah and JAY-Z are on great terms. She’s now represented by Range where her former Roc Nation manager is a Managing Partner.”
Mariah signed with Jay-Z’s company in 2017, after cutting ties with ex-manager Stella Bulochnikov. Though so, the pair have collaborated in several projects years beforehand, such as “Things That U Do” in 1999, “You Got Me” in 2002 and “Shake It Off” remix in 2005.
