Assuring fans that the frontman is ‘in the process of healing himself,’ the rock band’s drummer expresses his disbelief at love, appreciation and support they received despite shows cancellation.
AceShowbiz –Lars Ulrich has heaped praise on Metallica‘s fans for their outpouring of support following the news frontman James Hetfield is back in rehab.
The heavy rockers were forced to scrap a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand, so the “Enter Sandman” singer could get the help he needs as he battles his ongoing addiction and alcoholism issues, detailed in the 2004 documentary “Some Kind of Monster”.
Drummer Ulrich has offered an update, adding that he’s impressed by the understanding of fans who had tickets for cancelled gigs.
“I think the biggest surprise is just how positive the feedback has been from our fans and friends and peers alike,” he says. “It’s very heartwarming, and it’s just blown our minds how much love and appreciation and support we’ve gotten in the last week since we had to postpone this. It’s an incredible thing.”
Lars reassures fans his bandmate is “in the process of healing himself”, adding, “He’s doing what he needs to.”
Metallica are hoping to reschedule the shows “Down Under” next year (2020).
The bandmates will also be playing two sets at all five of top promoter Danny Wimmer’s American rock festivals in 2020, including Epicenter in North Carolina and California’s Aftershock.
