On Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, BTS put on their “Map of the Soul ON:E” online concert. Lea Salonga, best known for her work in musical theatre, tuned in to both of BTS’ shows. After posting about “Map of the Soul ON:E” on Twitter, Salonga revealed her BTS bias and explained why the concerts resonated so much with her.

Salonga is a Filipina singer and actress. She provided the singing voices for Jasmine and Mulan in Disney’s 1992 animated movie Aladdin and 1998’s Mulan. She originated the role of Kim in Miss Saigon in the West End and on Broadway. This led to her becoming the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award.
Salonga is also well known for her work in the musical Les Misérables. She played Éponine in the West End, on Broadway, and in the U.S. national tour in Hawaii. She played Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway in 2007, and is the first actress of Asian descent to play Éponine and Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway. Salonga reprised the role of Éponine for Les Misérables: The 10th Anniversary Concert in 1995 and Fantine in 2010 for Les Misérables: 25th Anniversary Concert.
What Lea Salonga thought of BTS’ ‘Map of the Soul ON:E’ concert
After both concerts, Salonga tweeted about how great BTS’ “Map of the Soul ON:E” concerts were.
“Map of the Soul ON:E. My God, that was incredible. #Borahae@BTS_twt,” Salonga tweeted after the Oct. 10 concert.
Salonga is a known fan of BTS and has revealed on multiple occasions that her bias is V. After tweeting about BTS’ “Map of the Soul ON:E” concert, she once again told ARMY that V is her bias. Following BTS’ second “Map of the Soul ON:E” concert on Oct. 11, Salonga shared how much she loved the concert.
“Map of the Soul ON:E, day 2. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, it did. I’m in awe. @BTS_twt,” she tweeted.
In the thread she continued, “I was fine for much of the concert since I saw it yesterday and knew what was going to happen. Until Namjoon’s speech. That got me, in the head and in the heart. He displays incredible leadership in the face of uncertainty, frustration and hopelessness.”
Why BTS put on ‘Map of the Soul ON:E’
Because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, BTS’ Map of the Soul Tour was indefinitely postponed. To show ARMY the songs they would have performed on tour, BTS put on “Map of the Soul ON:E.” During their ending ments, the BTS members discussed how frustrated they were with the coronavirus. However, they also expressed that they were extremely happy to have found a way to perform for ARMY.
While watching “Map of the Soul ON:E,” Salonga found herself missing performing as well.
“You know what other part of Map of the Soul ON:E got me? Seeing the neon-colored spike marks on the floor as well as the numbers all the way downstage. That reminded me of how much I miss being on stage performing, trying to find my marks and aligning myself to a number. Sigh,” she tweeted.
