Comic and “Daily Show” correspondent Ronny Chieng is swinging through Colorado on his way to becoming a household name. In addition to a role in Marvel’s Sept. 3 movie, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” Chieng’s recent Netflix special proved him a comedic gift to U.S. audiences (“Asian Comedian Destroys America!”). Chieng plays the Boulder Theater Sept. 24 and Denver’s Newman Center for the Performing Arts on Sept. 25 as part of his “Hope You Get Rich” tour. Tickets are on sale. Also in comedy — and, incidentally, on one of the same dates — is a second show from groundbreaking sitcom veteran and Denver favorite George Lopez, whose 7 p.m. show is close to selling out. A heads up for KS-107.5 Summer Jam ticketholders: The Sept. 4 event at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre has been canceled after headliner DaBaby made homophobic remarks at a concert last week — which also caused him to be dropped from a number of other concerts and festivals. Soul-funk titan Boombox, featuring the Backbeat Brass, is playing a New Year’s eve run at the Ogden Theater Dec. 31-Jan. 1, with a yet-to-be-announced opener on the first night, and Gene Farris supporting the Jan. 1 concert. Indie-twang hero My Morning Jacket, known for its marathon live shows, will play RiNo’s Mission Ballroom as part of a planned New Year’s Eve run in Denver, Dec. 29-31. Tickets for the 16-and-up concerts are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6. ($68.20, axs.com)
A couple of weeks before New Year’s Eve, party-ready bands Turkuaz and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe — the latter a frequent visitor for Halloween shows — will co-headline Mission Ballroom for a 16-and-up concert. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6. ($30-$35, axs.com)

Influential avant-garde band The Residents is bringing its 50th anniversary “Dog Stab!” tour to the Bluebird Theater on Aug. 24, with a song selection that alternates between 1978 album “Duck Stab/Buster & Glen” and the mysterious quartet’s 2020 double-album, “It’s Metal, Meat and Bone: The Songs of Dyin’ Dog.” Tickets are on sale. The annual (well, not last year, anyway) show from the Beatles-homage band 1964 The Tribute is set to return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Aug. 19, with a portion of ticket sales benefiting PBS12, formerly known as Colorado Public Televsion. Tickets are on sale. ($45-$55, axs.com)
Ukulele maestro Jake Shimabukuro needs no introduction in Denver, where he’s developed a fan base with his tender, skilled playing and songwriting.
