Petition to stop Katie Price owning pets gets 20K signatures after new pup snaps

A petition to stop Katie Price from owning dogs has reached 20,000 signatures.

The former glamour model and mum-of-five recently debuted her new puppy to fans on Instagram, introducing the tiny pooch as Captain.

But the snaps divided fans, with some accusing Katie of using him as an “accessory”.

Commenters wrote: “That poor dog being used like an accessory,” as someone else added: “I hope this one lives longer than the others.”

It comes after Katie’s various dogs met with untimely deaths over the years, as her Alsatian Sparkle was killed in 2020 after escaping the house and running out into the road, where she was tragically hit by a car.

In 2021, one of Katie’s son Harvey’s carers found French Bulldog Rolo dead after getting stuck under an armchair.

Katie explained at the time she administered CPR and rushed the pup to the vet, telling fans: “There was nothing they could do, but they did say he wouldn’t have died in pain. It was quick.”

Katie then reportedly ‘gave away’ Princess’ dog Precious to a TV crew member last year while working on renovating her Mucky Mansion.

Another dog, Bear, was rehomed after he kept escaping into the road and “bit another dog”, with her rep telling The Mirror in 2019: “She’s had to give Bear away because he kept running onto the road and he had bitten another dog.

"He had to go to the vets but because he was a risk to people they decided to give him back to the breeder. The vet advised this.”

In 2019, it was reported that guard dog Blade attacked Katie’s Sphynx cats, Hagrid and Dobby. Blade allegedly ripped Dobby’s tail off, while Hagrid fled the home for five days.

And now a Chane.org petition has reached more than 20,000 signatures.

The move, entitled: “Ban Katie Price from buying any more animals”, dates from 2020 and reads: “A puppy has died in the last 24 hours in Katie Price’s care. She bought this puppy for her 13-year-old child three weeks ago.

“In the last 5 years more animals have died from lack of care. Horses, dogs, cats, lizards, hedgehogs. This isn’t a single family tragedy. It’s a common thing in Katie Price’s home.”

It isn’t only concerned social media users – Elisa Allen, director of animal charity Peta, told The Sun: “Given her track record with animals, several of whom have died in her ‘care’, it would be irresponsible and reckless for Katie to be allowed to acquire another one.

“And any breeder willing to sell to her is clearly putting profit over the animals’ welfare.”

Daily Star has contacted Katie's representatives for comment.
