Sorry to Break It to You, but Fergie Isn't Part of The Black Eyed Peas Anymore

If keeping up with music hasn’t exactly been at the top of your priorities list at the moment, I can’t even blame you. That said, you probably missed the glaring fact that Fergie—aka Miss Fergalicious definition make them boys go loco—is no longer working with The Black Eyed Peas. Thankfully, there’s no bad blood between Fergie and the rest of the band, but like…still.

In a interview with Billboard, frontman will.i.am was asked if Fergie has had a chance to listen to their new album, Translation. The short answer? No, but they try to stay in touch with Fergie when possible.

“She hasn’t heard it. She’s going to hear it when everybody else hears it. I hope she likes it. We try to keep in touch,” will.i.am said. “We reach out every once in a while and say our hellos and happy birthdays and Merry Christmas and Happy Easter.”

There’s a silver lining here, believe it or not—Fergie’s not with the band anymore because she’s busy raising her (and Josh Duhamel’s) 6-year-old son, Axl. There could be a chance that she comes back in the future once Axl’s a little older, who knows!

“She knows where we’re at! We’re at the studio. And we love her, and she’s focusing on being a mom,” will.i.am added. “That’s a hard job, and that’s what she really wants to do and we’re here for her, and she knows how to contact us for a retreat or a breakaway. It’s really the way Fergie designed it, so we’re respecting her design. We love Fergie, and we don’t want anything but awesomeness for her.”

It really seems like there’s nothing but love and support for Fergie’s decision to focus on her son, because Apl.de.ap echoed a sentiment similar to will.i.am’s in the interview. “Fergie is our sister. So even with these small connections, she’s always going to be our sister,” he said. “Unfortunately our schedule is displaced by [her] wanting to be a great mom, and she wants to focus on that. And like Will said, we support her 100 per cent.”

Glad to see that Fergie’s spending more time with her son, but fingers crossed she reunites with The Black Eyed Peas (or releases another bangin’ solo album) in the future.
