The Boys actor Antony Starr has been handed a 12-month suspended sentence after being involved in a drunken pub brawl in Spain, which left a chef needing four stitches.
Starr is best known for playing antihero Homelander in the Amazon Prime show, and is currently involved in filming for a new flick directed by Guy Ritchie in Spain.
But the New Zealand-born actor, 46, has now been convicted of wounding after appearing in an Alicante court on Thursday (March 3), and spent two nights in police custody.
He was initially arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning after police were called to the scene of the disturbance.
Starr admitted to a drunken assault on a 21-year-old chef in a Costa Blanca pub, with the chef telling officers he was punched twice before having a glass smashed in his face.
The injured man, named as Bathuel Araujo, was rushed to hospital and had four stitches to a wound above his eye after the incident.
Along with his suspended sentence, Starr was also ordered to pay upwards of £4,000 in compensation to his victim.
Araujo told local press that his aggressor was "very drunk" at the time, and alleged he lashed out after a friend he was with asked Starr's pal to calm him down because he was being a nuisance.
The chef claimed Starr responded by telling him to 'f*** off' and tried to push him out of the pub before punching him in the jaw and close to his eye – when he finally responded by pushing him backwards.
The Venezuelan-born chef said: "After he punched me I was dizzy and that’s when he hit me with the glass by his left eyebrow."
However, the incident wasn't yet over, as the actor was then kicked out of the pub by security staff, before going on to threaten Araujo in English, allegedly saying: "You don’t know who you’ve messed with, you don’t know who I am and what you’ve done.
"You’ve committed the mistake of your life and I’m going to look for you. I want to kill you."
A court official said of the case: "A speedy trial ended up taking place and Alicante Court of Investigation Number Nine, acting as a duty court, sentenced the arrested man to 12 months in prison and the payment of a fine of [£4,141] for a crime of wounding.
"The detainee’s state of drunkenness was taken into account as an extenuating factor.
"His prison sentence is being suspended on the condition that he doesn’t commit another crime in two years and pays the compensation in the next 72 hours."
The official added that the sentence came of an agreement between the state prosecution service and Starr.
A spokesperson for Spain's National Police in Alicante confirmed ahead of the court hearing: "I can confirm a 46-year-old man was arrested following an incident at a pub in Alicante around 2.30am on March 2.
