The Specials frontman Terry Hall has sadly died at the age of 63 following a "brief illness".
His devastated bandmates confirmed the news on Monday (December 19).
In a statement, the band said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced.

“Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls.
"His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love."
The statement, released on Twitter, went on: "He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity.
"Terry often left the stage at the end of The Specials’ life-affirming shows with three words… ‘Love Love Love’.”
The band also requested privacy for Hall's family.
Along with his long career in The Specials, Hall was also part of Fun Boy Three and the Colourfield.
Devastated fans have been paying their respects on social media, with one writing: "Feel very privileged to have seen him live twice in last 18 months. He was a one-off. Last lyrics I heard him sing You're wondering now, what to do, now you know this is the end."
Another added: "This has hit me like a train. The first singer I saw live. His music, through the Specials, Fun Boy Three, Colourfield, and back to the Specials, has been with me all through my teens and adult life. My heartfelt sympathies to his family. RIP Terry."
While a third wrote: "Desperately sorry for your loss. This is absolutely tragic. What a giant. Much love and strength to the family and band mates. Thinking of you."
Coventry City Football Club's official account also added: "Very sad news – our thoughts and condolences are with @thespecials and their fans, and Terry’s family and friends.
News of the musician's death saw him trending on Twitter as thousands of fans paid their respects.
