The Traitors star eyes up EastEnders return after past soap role is uncovered

The Traitors star Maddy Smedley has hinted at a potential return to mega soap EastEnders.

The receptionist recently shot to fame thanks to her appearance on the new BBC One reality TV show – fronted by Claudia Winkleman.

However, Maddy, who made it to the final week of the smash hit show – shocked fans when she revealed she’d previously starred in both EastEnders and Casualty.

Now it seems viewers can expect Maddy to make a return to Albert Square.

“I’m gonna say yes to everything,” Maddy revealed in a new interview.

"I’d love to be in EastEnders again, I loved working with them.”

The blonde beauty added to The Sun: “It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I grew up watching the show."

Maddy played a homeless woman called Rita for one episode on EastEnders, as well as Jasmine Madbury in Casualty for the last two years.

During her time on The Traitors, Maddy told her fellow contestants that she is a receptionist at a care home.

However, she left her fellow co-stars and viewers at home gobsmacked when she admitted that acting was her real passion.

She told the camera away from her fellow players: “I do work in a care home but my main passion is acting. I played Rita in EastEnders – the homeless woman, and also I played someone without a womb in Casualty.”

She added: “I feel like it means like I can spot if someone’s putting on a performance.”

Fans rushed to react, with one saying: “ OMG Maddy played Rita the homeless woman in #EastEnders!!!”

A second echoed: “Can’t believe ar Maddy was in Eastenders, bring homeless Rita back I say #TheTraitors!

“Was not expecting the #TheTraitors #EastEnders cross-over episode,” a third added.

Towards the end of the popular BBC game show which follows a group of 'faithfuls' attempt to uncover 'the traitors' in the group, Maddy's hunch on contestant Wilf was ignored by her co-stars until the final, where it was revealed that he was the remaining traitor in the group.

Meanwhile, Maddy was banished by her fellow faithful one stage before the final.
