This Morning star Fern Britton left devastated as beloved family member dies

This Morning legend Fern Britton has shared her devastation following the death of her rescue cat Bob.

The 64-year-old took Twitter with a sweet up close image of her beloved feline, who was starring straight into the lens of the camera.

Fern explained that she had rescued Bob from the RSPCA 13 years ago, in exchange for a £60 donation to the animal welfare charity.

While she was truly gutted to be bidding farewell to her fur-friend, the broadcaster also told fans it was the best money spent.

Fern penned: "Said goodbye to dear Bob today."

The former ITV presenter added: "13 years of unadulterated character and dearly loved.

"The finest £60 for the RSPCA I ever spent."

Since the sad announcement, Fern's social media has been flooded with messages of condolence, with many fans even sharing their own adorable images of their own pets.

One comment read: "So sorry for your loss, I lost my boy 2 weeks ago, he was 15, am heartbroken."

A second person said: "So sorry, Fern. A week since our lovely cat, Pino died and we still feel desperately sad. Sending hugs."

While a third told her: "Bless his little heart. We've been there too and know how you’ll be feeling. But what a wonderful life he will have had thanks to your love and care and fuss."

Fern split from her This Morning chef husband, Phil Vickery in 2020.

In an interview with BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood, Fern went on to hail her pets for helping her get through some difficult times in lockdown.

After her split with Phil, she moved to their second home in Cornwall and enjoyed spending time with all her adored pets.

Speaking on the platform Fane.co.uk., Fern said: "One of my cats, Bob, you feel something in the night, then you get a paw and a few claws and then he whispers in your ear, 'I don’t know if you are aware of it but it’s almost 4am and I am hungry'.

"And it is every morning and that is Bob. So I have Bob and Brandy and she is an absolute b***h. She really is. She comes in, bashing away.

"We have a little doggy as well and he has become my grandson. They are all very sweet."
