Tom Cruise is set to do a spacewalk for a movie.
The Top Gun star, 60, is in talks with Universal for out-of-this-world stunts in an upcoming blockbuster.
Dame Donna Langley, chairwoman of the film studio, revealed: “We have a great project in development with Tom that does contemplate him taking a rocket to the Space Station.

“And hopefully he will become the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station. He will play a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.”
Plans for the film emerged in 2020 when Nasa’s Jim Bridenstine said: “Nasa is excited to work with Tom aboard the Space Station!”
The flick is set to be the first action motion picture to be filmed in outer space in partnership with Elon Musk's SpaceX.
Musk replied to NASA on Twitter saying the project "should be a lot of fun!"
Cruise played an astronaut in 2013 film Oblivion, when he safeguarded Earth's natural resources from alien invaders.
He also narrated the 2002 Imax documentary Space Station 3D. It's not known when the star will blast off to the ISS for real.
A NASA astronaut has since warned Tom Cruise regarding the strong smell of the ISS or the International Space Station, as well as the difficulty of performing spacewalks.
NASA astronaut Victor Glover sat down for a chat with the Hollywood actor to prepare him for the realities of the role.
Glover, who was part of the first operational crew mission to the ISS on board SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft in November 2020, gave Cruise several pointers as to what to expect.
During an interview for the NASA podcast The Body in Space, Glover didn't beat around the bush.
"When you first get to space station is when you notice the smell the strongest because you kind of get saturated and you get used to it after, but it was an interesting combination," Glover told Cruise after he asked about the experience of living on board the orbiting space lab.
He also warned Cruise that spacewalks are no cake walk.
"You're moving around a suit that can weigh, with your body, as much as a thousand pounds and you very rarely use your legs," he told the actor. "It's like running two marathons but on your hands the whole time."
