Twitter Can't Get Enough of 'Drunk Taylor' Swift Dancing and Lip-Syncing to Her Own Music

The singer is seen partying with her “You Need to Calm Down” video co-stars to celebrate its ten MTV Video Music Awards nominations.

Taylor Swift’s image is usually so polished and calculated, fans were elated over the weekend when video of what appeared to be a very drunk Taylor hit the internet, immediately going viral.

"Drunk Taylor" immediately shot up the trending topics list on Twitter, with fans praising her enthusiasm and willingness to get down to her own jam. And of course her lip sync was totally on point as "You Need to Calm Down" blasted through the speakers.

Swift was celebrating the instantly-iconic video’s ten nominations at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards alongside her co-stars in the video including Laverne Cox, Hannah Hart, Akeria Chanel Davenport, HAIM, Hayley Kiyoko, Justin Mikita and Chester Lockhart, as detailed by Just Jared.

Swift could be seen getting down with fans, messing up her own hair and even got involved in some dramatic pantomime to the song’s lyrics as Laverne Cox and others looked on and danced along.

Of course, dancing along to some of her favorite music is nothing new as every awards show director knows by now. If Taylor Swift is in the crowd, you put her front row and you station a camera right in front of her so you can cut to her liberally throughout every performance.

Swift may have famously said — and showed in videos like "Shake It Off" and "Delicate" — that she’s not a particularly great dancer, but that just makes her more relatable and accessible to her fans. After all, this is something she doesn’t excel at and yet she fearlessly embraces it publicly.

Plus, who says you have to be a principal ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet to be able to get up on your feet and get down with whatever music moves you. Certainly not Taylor Swift!

Even better for some fans, Taylor was trending at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, which perfectly fit the lyrics to her song as she sings, "You’re takin’ shots at me like it’s Patrón / And I’m just like, damn, it’s 7 a.m."

Of course, the memes immediately started kicking in, too, with fans Photoshopping "Drunk Taylor" dancing at various places around the world, and even places that aren’t around the world, like the one who decided to have her "appear" as a Pokemon in the wild.

It’s hard to say who was having more fun, "Drunk Taylor" or her fans after they saw her in the videos. Still others tried to predict how Taylor Swift might react on Sunday morning when she wakes up and finds out why she’s trending.
