Watch Moses Sumney's NPR "Tiny Desk (Home) Concert"

The NPR Tiny Desk series rages on, just streamed from the comfort of artist’s home studios during the ongoing coronavirus quarantine. The positive side of adappting to the times has been just how intimate the performances have been. Moses Sumney is the latest musician to take part, as he performed songs from his critically acclaimed project græ as well as his Black in Deep Red, 2014 EP from 2018. Moses brought a vintage aesthetic along with him, updating his stream from his home in North Carolina through a vintage VHS filter that added an out-of-focus yet warm touch.

“I’m performing songs off of my new album which I released in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, so that was fun,” Sumney told NPR. “But all of the songs are about loneliness and isolation so, who’s laughing now?… With this album, I was like yo, I could die any minute so let me sing all the high notes but also all the low notes and also, also, also,” he added. He played three songs from græ: “Bless Me,” “Me In 20 Years” (for which he just released a moving music video) and “Polly.” Moses finished with 2018’s “Rank and File.” Watch above.
