Angel Adoree and her husband Dick Strawbridge changed their lives forever when they left their flat in Southend for a 19th Century french mansion in the commune of Martigné-sur-Mayenne. The Channel 4 series depicts their lives together, along with their two young children, as they transform their once-dilapidated home, giving handy tips and tricks along the way. Here’s everything Express.co.uk knows about Angel Adoore’s parents.
Who are Escape to the Chateau Angel Adoree’s parents?
Angel Strawbridge was born in East London, South April, to parents Stephan and Jennifer Newman.
They didn’t stay abroad for too long though, moving to Canvey Island shortly after Angel was born, where they would go on to run a jeweller.
Her parents were key members of the community for many years, with their shop Jewellery Paradise opening in the 1980s followed by restaurant Flutes in 2004.
Angel’s brother went on to take over the jewellery business when the couple retired in 2014 and relocated to a larger site.
The Escape to the Chateau’s official website’s mantra states: “The harder you work the luckier you get.”
Angel went on to explain how her parents influenced her and her brother Paul into working hard for everything they have.
She said: “Before we [her and Dick] met we both had strong work ethics.
“My mum and dad are workaholics, my dad owned Paradise Jewellers in Benfleet for 20 years and a restaurant.
“My brother Paul now runs the jewellers on Canvey Island.”
The handover of the family jewellery business was made one year after Escape to the Chateau first made its debut.
When Stephen and Jennifer retired, they uprooted their lives to follow their daughter to France.
In fact, the couple went on to live on Angel and Dick’s estate which is a stone’s throw away from the home.
While not all sons-in-law would want their wife’s parents living so close, Dick has pointed out an obvious upside to the move.

Dick joked: “Angela’s parents live in the coach house, so we have the best childcare in the world which is an enormous help!”
Their children are Arthur, nine, and Dorothy, eight, who are regularly seen in the series.
Dick has two older children from his first marriage as well, chef James and artist Charlotte.
Little else is known about Stephen and Jennifer as the couple prefers to keep their personal life out of the spotlight.
Escape to the Chateau returned for season nine on Channel 4 at the end of October.
Much like previous outings, this series is once again going to consist of eight episodes.
As long as there are no scheduling breaks, the grand finale will air on Sunday, December 18.
Escape to the Chateau continues every Sunday at 8pm on Channel 4.
