Beverley Callard reveals heartbreak as her dog is rushed into intensive care ahead of I'm A Celebrity stint

BEVERLEY Callard has revealed her heartbreak as her dog was rushed into intensive care ahead of her I'm A Celebrity stint.

Bev, who plays feisty barmaid Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, is heading to North Wales this month to camp out in the leaky Gwrych Castle and could be leaving her poorly pooch Norman behind.

The Coronation Street actress shared her pain on Instagram today and said the "next few hours are critical" as she asked for fans' support.

She told them Norman had been suffering from diarrhoea and vommiting as well as a high temperature.

She added: "Our beloved Norman is in intensive care, he was admitted yesterday with sickness and diareah he had a temp of 106. Blood pressure keeps crashing they don’t know if it’s viral, bacterial but he is showing signs of sepsis.

"Next few hours are critical. Has anyone been thru this?"

Beverley's fans were rooting for Norman, with one replying: "Oh I’m so sorry to read this. I really hope he is ok x"

Another penned: "Oh Norman fingers crossed and hugs"

Beverley, who revealed in 2019 that she was leaving Corrie after 30 years for new projects, is supposed to be joining the likes of Mo Farrah and Vernon Kay on I'm A Celeb within weeks.

But she was also struggling to walk in September after a recent operation on her hip went badly wrong.

But Bev has been left struggling to walk following the surgery in March and the cold, uncomfortable setting could make things even tougher for Bev if doctors give her the green light to take part.

But her pals said she is determined to take part, with one telling The Mirror: “She is nothing if not a fighter.

“I’m a Celebrity may have switched from New South Wales to cold north Wales but she still hopes to be there. It’s been a great target for her as she continues with physio, working hard to get fit for the show in a couple of months is really helping to spur her on.

"She’s so focused, some of her friends are convinced that she will go all the way and win.”

Corrie legend Bev is said to be racking in an estimated £125,000 pay cheque for I'm A Celeb.

The Liz McDonald star has a lot to live up to as soap stars often do well on the show.

Last year, ex-co star Andy Whyment lost out to EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa in the final.
