Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page backed for James Bond role by co-star Adjoa Andoh after 007 rumours

BRIDGERTON star Regé-Jean Page has been backed by his co-star Adjoa Andoh for the coveted James Bond role following rumours he could be the next 007.

The actor, who set pulses racing as the Duke of Hastings, has been widely touted as a successor to Daniel Craig in the secret agent series.

Regé's name came up as Adjoa, who stars in the ground-breaking Netflix period drama alongside him, chatted to Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway.

When asked by Ben what her thoughts were on Regé taking on the role of Bond, Adjoa said: "The thing with Regé is that he's beautiful – don't tell him I said that! – he's beautiful, he's very smart.

"He's a fantastically funny, sharp actor, so he could take on any role you give him really, annoyingly.

"So yes, he'd be a marvellous Bond if they ever decided to go that way – no doubt at all."

Bridgerton fans recently watched as Adjoa, 58, played the straight-talking Lady Danbury who takes a young Hastings under her wing.

Adjoa has also starred in Doctor Who, Casualty and EastEnders, as well as the film Invictus.

Meanwhile Regé himself dropped a huge hint he's set to play James Bond – after refusing to deny he's got the job.

The actor, 31, insisted he wasn't allowed to talk about the "B" word when quizzed on last week's episode of The Graham Norton Show.

The Duke of Hastings star said: “Bridgerton is the only ‘B” word I am allowed to say – I am not going to talk about the other ‘B’ words!”

A number of fans have flocked to back him for the next 007, with one writing: "We need Rege-Jean Page to be the next Bond, he's set for stardom."

A second posted: "He would make a great Bond, he was so gorgeous in Bridgerton."

In September it was revealed next Bond flick No Time To Die will definitely be Daniel Craig's last as the famous spy.

Producer Barbara Broccoli insisted Daniel has put away his spy gadgets for the last time.

She said: “There’s a few lines that are in the script that Bond fans will love from the books and some wonderful locations that are described in the books.

“We consider this film to be a classic Bond film but with a modern twist.

“It’s also vitally important because it is the fifth and final one that Daniel Craig is going to be doing, so it’s a culmination of everything his portrayal of the character has been through and it ties up all the storylines. “It’s a pretty epic film, I have to say.”

The film's release has been pushed back numerous times due to the coronavirus pandemic but Bond fans will finally get to see it from April 2.
