The ‘Captain Marvel’ actress reveals that the female stars of Marvel Cinematic Universe have pushed studio boss Kevin Feige to make an all-female film happen.
AceShowbiz –Brie Larson is leading the other female stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in lobbying for an all-women superhero movie.
The actress took on the role of “Captain Marvel” earlier this year, in the first Marvel instalment to be fronted by a woman, with Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow also getting her own film next May.
Speaking at Variety magazine’s Power of Women event, Brie revealed that she and other female Marvel stars like Scarlett, Elizabeth Olsen, Zoe Saldana, Danai Gurira, and Tessa Thompson have told Marvel chief Kevin Feige to make an all-female film happen.
“I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this’,” she explained. “What that means, I have no idea. You know, I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.”
Kevin has previously expressed an interest in making an all-women Avengers-style Marvel epic, but no firm plans have been set. However, Brie is keen for plans to move forward as she enjoyed filming her cameo in “Avengers: Endgame” – which saw her battling the supervillain Thanos and his minions alongside the MCU’s female heroes.
“It was just a great day,” she gushed. “To get to be with all of those women for the day and you get this feeling of, like, almost a little bit of naughtiness because it’s a secret and none of us can talk about it – that it felt like we were a part of this like coven working together for this goal.
“It was an opportunity for us to share and hang out. And as many people know, a lot of the time women aren’t working together.”
