JOHN Whaite had made a dramatic announcement to tell fans he has 'quit TV' for good after his pal's show was axed for good.
The former Bake Off contestant had appeared on Steph's Packed Lunch as a chef since the show launched but confessed he planned to leave anyway, regardless of it being axed.
John, 34, posted a video to Instagram to admit that while he was shocked and stunned over Channel 4's decision to pull the plug on the popular luchtime show, it made no difference to him as he was ready to say goodbye anyway.
Steph McGovern presented the programme from Leeds but The Sun confirmed that it would be coming to an end this December.
Addressing the news, John insisted he was "fine" about the show coming to an end as he opened up to his followers about his run on TV being "done".
He said in the clip: "This is the truth, I was going to leave TV this year anyway.

"That’s why I’ve been off Packed Lunch for a couple of weeks just to get my head in the gear and I just came to the conclusion that I think my career in television is now done.
"I’ve had a great run and loved it."
He then appeared to flounder and suggest uncertainty about whether he had really "quit TV" as he continued: "I’ll do the odd bit here and there but I need to focus my attention now on business and on my creativity, so that’s where I am."
He then asked fans to send their wishes to the remaining crew on the Channel 4 offering as they continue to work on the show despite it coming to an imminent end.

John said: "If you’re going to think about anybody and give best wishes to anybody, please think of the Packed Lunch team."
Despite turning his attention to business, he suggested a return to the adults only website OnlyFans might be on the cards for him following the programme's axe writing: "Maybe it’s time to start selling photos of my bare a**e on OnlyFans, again…"

Steph, 41, left her role at BBC Breakfast to front her self-titled show which is based in Leeds.
The presenter has yet to address its shock axing but fans have been left raging over the move.
A source said: "This decision has come totally out of the blue; Steph's Packed Lunch has been going from strength to strength, and has an incredibly loyal fanbase.
"It feels like Channel 4 are shooting themselves in the foot with this one – citing the need to do less live programming in order to go toe to toe with Netflix et al. It's nonsense."
