Johnny Connor (played by Richard Hawley) and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) are set to leave for France in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, but that means leaving their beloved Rovers Return behind. As for who is going to take over pulling pints behind the bar, official soap spoilers have revealed it will be Carla Connor (Alison King) and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyn) stepping up to the plate, but could this prove detrimental to Peter’s sobriety?

Peter has struggled with alcohol addiction throughout his time in Weatherfield.
He had put his family’s life in peril numerous times, but Peter recently turned over a new leaf and got himself on the straight and narrow.
But, to throw Peter into a pub setting could soon prove detrimental to his heath when Carla agrees to help out brother Johnny and Jenny.
It’s not been an easy ride for Carla over the last year either since the Factory tragedy that rocked the cobbles last year.

The tragic collapse saw Carla spiralling out of control and it seems she had only just started to get her life back on track.
It was thanks to Johnny and her other family members she returned to the cobbles and began to move on from her days at the helm of a business empire.
But, could Peter and Carla be sent back to their darker days going back to a fast pace life in the Rovers.
Newcomer Scott Emberton (Tom Roberts) is set to move into the spare room at the Rovers, but it seems he knows Johnny.
And this could provide trouble for Peter and Carla when Johnny pretends he doesn’t know the old pal.
Scott will greet Johnny like an old friend, and it will quickly become clear Johnny has been keeping yet another secret.
Jenny has managed to find it in her heart to forgive Johnny over the years for all his indiscretions and secrets.
What Jenny doesn’t know is Scott could have turned up on the cobbles with a secret to expose.

This secret, however, could change Jenny and Johnny’s life forever, and so the two will make a quick exit to France.
But this could leave Carla and Peter in a dangerous position if Scott is out to get some kind of justice.
If Johnny is unsettled by this stranger, then viewers know whatever the secret is cannot be good.
Will Scott’s presence be the thing that pushes Peter back to the bottle over the next few weeks?

Explaining more about Johnny’s exit, a source told Metro.co.uk: “Johnny will do anything he can to avoid this familiar but unwelcome face from his history.
“There are things that he is hiding that he doesn’t want coming to light.”
However, this isn’t the first time Peter has run the Rovers Return, he even got into a huge row with Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) a few years ago.
Ken questioned how Peter could run a pub and stay sober but are viewers about to see a similar blowout?
