Coronation Street star reveals huge change as he returns as Seb

Seb Franklin will be back on our screens next week, as Coronation Street airs a series of special flashback episodes to the night of the character’s murder.

The night before the trial, Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) is transported back to the final day of Seb’s life via a piece of music she overhears.

Fragments of her memory begin to resurface, and upon learning such a thing, Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) brings to the café the bag of items found on Seb’s body.

Nina’s struck by the sight of the plastic heart ring Seb gave to her, as she starts to remember.

She decides to retrace her and Seb’s steps, heading to the wasteland where she encountered Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and Kelly Neelan on the day in question. Abi, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) accompany her.

In a series of specially shot reconstruction scenes, the audience is taken back to the night of Seb’s attack, where the truth about what happened is at last revealed to viewers and to a distraught Nina, as her memory returns.

Actor Harry Visinoni reprised his role for the special episodes. ‘I had to make sure I didn’t look too different,’ he told us. ‘I had wanted to have a really different hair cut when I left but I had to keep Seb’s long hair.

‘I was back for over a week to film the scenes. I always knew that I would be coming back to film but I didn’t know exactly what the flashback scenes were going to show, there was a lot more detail in the scenes and more filming than I expected but I’m really pleased with what we have.’

‘It was brilliant to come back and see everyone. We did lots of night shoots so it was very different to usual filming.

‘It felt special and more like doing a self contained drama or a film. The atmosphere was different and we worked as a close cohort to be able to show the attack and the build up to it.’

As Harry mentioned, the actors involved in the flashback scenes formed a close cohort bubble, meaning that they did not have to adhere to the regular two metre restrictions.

The star said that that this ‘made it a lot easier’, and due to the cohort, he and co-star Mollie were able to film a kiss between Seb and Nina, which they were unable to do previously due to Covid restrictions.

‘It was easy to get back into that and helped by the fact that we could actually work more closely,’ said Harry. ‘The whole relationship had been filmed in the past two metres apart and suddenly we were able to be really close to each other.

‘There is a moment in the reconstruction where we actually got to kiss and that really helps tell the story of that night and remind people of the beauty of their relationship and ensure the viewers are invested in the outcome of the trial.

‘The first time [the attack] was shot very cleverly and it was left to the public’s imagination, not seeing it didn’t hamper the story telling but for the flashback it was important to show what actually happened.

‘It was necessary for us to be able to work closely. It will be interesting to see what is shown in the final edit as the viewer needs to see exactly what happened.’

After the reconstruction is complete, Nina bursts into tears, having remembered her final moments with Seb. She vows to go to the police to tell them what happened that night.

But will Corey pay for what he’s done?
