Coronation Street stars look worlds away from their characters at Christmas party

Coronation Street's stars looked worlds away from their characters on Friday night as they enjoyed the hit ITV soap's Christmas party.

Taking to Instagram, several Corrie cast members shared fun snaps from the festive event held at Manchester's Science and Industry Museum.

Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow, looked stylish in a black trouser ensemble which she teamed with a leather jacket and slick of festive red lipstick.

The actress, 20, was joined by her ITV soap BFF Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman, as she too shared a collection of snaps from the party.

Harriet, 24, looked chic in a vibrant pink fluffy crop top, black high-waisted trousers and pink satin platform heels.

The soap star styled her blonde locks into a halfback hairdo, adding a slick of bold make-up which included matching pink eyeliner and lipstick.

As well as posing for photos with Elle, Harriet also posed for snaps with co-star James Craven, who plays Aaron Sandford.

Soap fans were quick to react to the snaps as one person said: "Icons!!! Xxx", while a different account put: "Love the pics!"

Another person wrote: "@ellejmulvaney and @harrietanneb look wonderful looks like a great time" with heart emojis.

While a different fan added: "Wow these are absolutely fantastic and amazing pics of you with the Coronation Street cast at the Coronation Street Christmas party there Harriet. You look absolutely fantastic, fabulous and amazing there too."

It's been an exciting few weeks for Corrie as the ITV soap has expanded the set to add a pawnbrokers, Chinese takeaway, dessert shop, pound shop and a charity shop to its plethora of iconic filming locations.

The shops, which will follow a 1960s style and have maisonettes above them, have been mentioned by characters on the soap but have never made an appearance on screen – until now.

The set has already been used for some scenes during filming – but it wasn’t fully completed until 1 December, meaning none of the cast and crew had seen the entire thing.
