Dan Walker left an impressive mark on viewers as he presented 5 News for the first time on Monday afternoon (MAY 6).

The 45-year-old, who recently left his permanent position on BBC Breakfast, took the bold move to head over to host Channel 5’s flagship news programme, 5 News alongside co-host Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije.

Seeing him showcase his skills on the rival terrestrial channel for the first time, fans wished him luck while stating that he got off to a good start.

Taking to the social media platform Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts on Dan.

One person wrote: "All the best at #5News. A nice, gentle start. Only a Prime Minister is under threat. Apart from that, ho-hum."

Another said: "#5News with@mrdanwalker great start to it nice and gentle Monday, enjoy and best of luck."

A third shared: "@mrdanwalker. Wishing you all the best Dan starting your new job and new chapter on #5news."

Meanwhile a fourth added: "Don't normally watch news @ 5 but turned over to see how you're doing – and you're doing great. We'll done. Still miss you on BBC breakfast."

However one fan seemed rather confused to see him on the show and penned: "Dan Walker on #5news are we watching BBC breakfast?"

During his first episode, the TV journalist stood outside Downing Street ahead of Boris Johnson's confidence vote on Monday evening.

Meanwhile his co-host Claudia was back at the studio delivering updates on other news stories.
