Dancing On Ice’s Dan Whiston says Caprice exit was a ‘shock’ during ‘nightmare’ week of illness and injuries – EXCLUSIVE

Despite this week being a fairytale themed show, we’ve had a bit of a nightmare what with illness amongst the cast and also the decision from Caprice to leave the show.

I really didn’t see that coming, and I think it came as quite a shock to everyone but it really is a case of ‘the show must go on’.

Unfortunately Libby Clegg had a vomiting bug and was so ill that she was unable to skate in the show. I know she was gutted about it because she has such a strong work ethic and is loving competing on the show but hopefully she will be back, firing on all cylinders next week.

Lisa George fell over mid routine, luckily she wasn’t hurt and got straight up but she was really tearful.

John Barrowman said he hopes it doesn’t knock her confidence but I think Lisa’s shaken up by it and will need a lot of confidence building this week.

We had so much fun putting her routine together though, as her skating partner Tom and his fellow pros were dressed in bear costumes……to say I laughed until I cried is an understatement.

  • Caprice 'hits out' at Dancing on Ice bosses for 'not backing her' over Hamish row – but he claims she 'bullied him'

  • Maura Higgins wears spooky werewolf outfit for Dancing On Ice and looks totally unrecognisable

Ian Watkins and his pro partner Matt Evers performed a Swan Lake style routine and although not everybody seemed to get the story I feel they skated really well.

Maura Higgins was also sick this week, so missed a huge chunk of rehearsals as she was just too ill to get on the ice. Luckily she recovered just in time to get in some last minute rehearsals at the weekend before we went live.

Despite being ill, Maura still managed to keep her battle of ‘one-upmanship’ with Joe Swash going.

I’ve lost count of all the practical jokes happening backstage, and on some days I feel like a primary school teacher trying to control unruly kids.

Like everyone in the audience and all the judges, I was blown away by how amazing Perri Keily’s routine was.

He’s had so many other work commitments that he’s had to fit his skating training around, it makes his achievements on the ice even more impressive.

Sadly we had to say goodbye to Kevin Kilbane who lost his place in the competition after being in the skate off against Ian Watkins.

Kevin had a happily ever after ending though, as he’s now dating his pro partner Brianne Delcourt. He even managed to get in a cheeky snog with Brianne at the end of his skate-off routine.

Yet again this week, the Dancing on Ice team has gone full out in every department from the hair and make up, and costume departments, to the art team, they are just incredible.

It makes me realise even more, how lucky I am to work with such talented people!
