DANCING On Ice star Faye Brookes says she's in the best shape of her life thanks to the show.
The actress, 33, who is most well known for playing Kate Connor in Coronation Street from 2015 to 2019, is one of 12 celebrities taking part in the popular ITV show this year.
The 13th series of the hit skating show returned to our screens last Sunday and certainly didn't disappoint.
Emmerdale's Joe-Warren Plant, rapper Lady Leshurr, comedian Rofus Hound, WAG Rebekah Vardy, actor Jason Dovan and Denise Van Outen gave it their all on the ice for the opening episode.
The other half of famous faces will perform this Sunday (January 24 2021), and Faye is one of those waiting to show off all the hard work she's put into training – which she says has completely transformed her body and mind.
Speaking out about her intense training with partner Hamish Gamen, she told the MailOnline: "I am using muscles I have never used before.
"I love to train, I love to keep fit and dance, I love to do different classes, shake it up, do a home workout, I'm up for anything. But this, they say it is hard but it is more than that – it is so challenging.
"The good side to it all is that I am keeping in shape and the best shape I have been in for a while.
"Mentally I am being challenge, physically I am being challenged and that makes you feel like you really need to enjoy – your body is in harmony, there's a balance somewhere.
"How great that I can challenge my body and my mind and feel really good about myself?"
Although trying to adapt to the ice has come with its fair share of difficulties and she has to keep a number of things handy in her purse to make sure she's prepared for a tricky training session.
She added: "I fall everyday in training, I fall every day. Usually I go into the barrier and I can't stop.
"I am definitely buying a tube of arnica cream every week. I have so many bruises from little falls. I am making sure I am taking care of my body when we do have downtime so the next day I am prepared.
"I have the Compeed for all those blisters, I have kneepads on, I have extra thermal layers just in case it's a bit cold so I have just been really overly prepared for anything."
Her nasty injuries haven't stopped her from aiming high as the soap star previously admitted that would love to try out the daredevil headbanger on the ice.
The beauty said: "I am up for it. I think because Hamish is so tall and strong. It might be really easy. I am drinking in every moment and if it comes up as an option, I am game.
“I don’t want to waste any opportunities. Why not?”
Faye will be competing this week alongside athlete Colin Jackson, Towie favourite Billie Shepherd, former Olympic skier Graham Bell, radio presenter Sonny Jay and pop star Myleene Klass.
Whoever lands themselves with the lowest score from judges Ashley Banjo, John Barrowman, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will have to complete against Lady L in the skate-off.
