Dancing on Ice’s Perri Kiely speaks out amid backlash following Joe Swash win

Perri Kiely has had his say on Joe Swash beating him on last Sunday's Dancing On Ice final.

Stacey Solomon 's partner Joe surprised by beating Diversity star Perri, who had been favourite to win the ITV show.

Speaking to fans on his Instagram account, Perri had nothing but praise for the former EastEnder's star and even revealed that he "couldn't have asked for a better week to end it all".

During the competition Perri seemed to go from strength-to-strength wowing the judges each week and topping the leader board consecutively after pushing himself out of his comfort zone each week.

Perri, 24, was the bookies favourite and the front runner to win the show for weeks on end.

On Sunday's grand finale, Christopher Dean former skating champion and panelist commented "best Bolero ever seen" after Perri had performed his final skate.

Perri even stunned fans as he performed a dare defying stunt that saw him backflip on the ice and land the technical move impeccably and with procession.

Viewers, Joe and Stacey Solomon were all left gobsmacked as the TV personality and his professional partner Alex Murphy were announced as the 2020 winners.

The final voting figures showed an incredibly narrow margin, with Joe securing 50.53% and Perri not far behind with 49.47%.

Despite the shock win and many fans up in arms that their favourite contestant didn't take home the win, Perri took his official page to update fans on his inner thoughts and feelings after his defeat, he said: "I couldn't have asked for a better week to end it all.

"I just want to say thank you for all the messages and those showing the love. And I'm getting loads of messages saying, 'gutted you didn't win' and stuff.

"I know it sounds super cheesy and 'of course you're going to say that, but I do feel I've achieved all I wanted to and more."

Reflecting over his time spent on the show, Perri said: "When I first got asked to do the show I wanted to push myself as much as I could and do stuff that's never been done on the ice before.

Taking his defeat like a true champion, he added: "And also Joe… Alex… You guys are like… you guys are just sick. Honestly, I've made friends for life. Joe you are an absolute legend.

"It's rare to do shows like this and leave with genuine friends but I feel like I really have.

"I'm proud of the whole journey. I've loved every single minute of it. Congratulations Joe and Alex."
