The incumbent James Bond is a physically impressive specimen for a 52-year-old action star, but even he can’t do all his stunts. Now Daniel Craig’s stunt double on his second 007 movie Quantum of Solace has spoken out on what sounds like a very dangerous first day on set. Bobby Holland Hanton’s speciality was running along rooftops and jumping across balconies on the 2008 movie.
Speaking with Metro, the Hollywood stuntman said: “My first [stunt] in Panama on Quantum of Solace when I was stunt doubling for Daniel Craig, I had to do a balcony jump from one balcony to another, three storeys up in the slums of Panama.
“And, because it was a night shoot, it was the last shot of the night at 2am.
“It was my first ever stunt on camera, there was no wires.
“I couldn’t have any safety because of the way they wanted to shoot it with the camera – the camera followed me over the balcony…I did it completely free and that was pretty ballsy!”

Last year, Express.co.uk, spoke with a personal injury lawyer who claimed film set accidents are occurring too frequently and more must be done to prevent them.
Ben Pepper, Associate Solicitor at Bolt Burdon Kemp, highlighted the pressure to make film stunts bigger, better and more dangerous.
He said: “They are occurring again and again. There are ways in which these types of accidents can be avoided. Clearly more needs to be done.
“The Health and Safety Executive have prosecuted [on a number of occasions] as a result of the failure of the employers…not meeting the standards.”
He added: “I don’t think it’s the case that the rules and regulations are getting tougher. They’ve always been there.
“Films are wanting to be bigger and better, louder and more explosive, more dangerous all the time – to try and up their game.
“More and more accidents are happening, so there are more breaches of the health and safety regulations.”
Express.co.uk also spoke with stunt coordinator Greg Powell, who has worked on several James Bond movies starting with Roger Moore’s The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977.

More recently, Powell worked on Daniel Craig’s Skyfall car stunts.
Asked what the 007 star is really like on set, the stuntman said: “Oh I’ve known Daniel for quite a few years now…nearly 30 years.
“I worked with him right back at the beginning of his career on Sharpe, back in the 90s.
“He’s a really nice guy!”
He added: “He hasn’t seemed to change that much from when I first met him, to be honest with you.”
From the trailers for No Time To Die, it looks like there will be a number of impressive stunts for Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing.
However, the film has been postponed by seven months due to the spread of coronavirus and its negative impact on the global box office.
No Time To Die is released in UK cinemas on November 12, 2020.
