Dark scenes in Casualty as Tina's abuse of Jacob gets worse

Casualty viewers have been left haunted by the evil coercive abuse by controlling Tina against Jacob.

A recent standalone episode highlighted her sinister behaviour towards him, hacking away at his confidence and self esteem.

And Jacob’s journey is only set to get worse warns the BBC show’s boss Loretta Preece.

She told us: ‘A recent genre-busting episode of Casualty shone a light on Tina and Jacob’s relationship and the coercive control she exerts over him.

‘This is a really important subject matter for the series to be highlighting and we’ll be delving further into this with some heart-breaking scenes as the series progresses.’

Speaking about the dark story recently, Charles Venn, who plays Jacob, explained to Metro.co.uk: ‘You start to appreciate hearing about actors who have had these challenging roles that have tested their mental fortitude, taking it home with them sometimes and it being difficult to leave things on the studio floor.

‘I understood. I understood for the first time in my 21 years of being an actor, it’s the first time I’ve really been challenged like that’.

He added: ‘It’s essential to show it’s not about the size, it’s about the concept of that particular person and what they are capable of doing. Here we have a woman who is very skilful at coercive behaviour, and for Jacob, this is a man who has let his guard down and trusted Tina, and in doing so, she’s taking advantage of that.

‘It will be mentally arduous, mentally challenging on Jacob’s part. We really delve deep into the pitfalls and perils of coercive behaviour and what you can do to the human mind.

‘The rabbit whole has been opened, but how deep will it go?’
