D.S Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) left Death in Paradise at the beginning of season nine, after fans were left on a cliffhanger as to whether or not she had been murdered. Heartbreakingly though it was her finance Patrice Campbell (Leemore Marrett Jr), who was killed. But, the star has now returned to Guadeloupe to start filming for the newest season.

Earlier today, the Death in Paradise Twitter account released a much-anticipated video.

Ralf Little, wearing a face mask, of course, told all 27,000 of their Twitter followers: “Hey, Ralf little here and I am delighted to say that I am back here filming series 10 of Death in Paradise.

“Here we are in Catherine’s Bar by the beach.

“And this year we have a very special surprise for fans of the show. Josephine Jobert is back.”

Ralf panned the camera around and there was Josephine and she jumped in the air as he welcomed her back.

She said: “Here I am! Hi everybody, I’m so excited to be back for this new series.”

Ralf added: “I know. We are just going to have to do our best acting in paradise.”

There are many surprises set for season 10 of the show after DI Neville finally agreed to stay at the end of season nine following a rocky start.

DS Florence will certainly be ready to cause a stir when she does return.

BBC bosses have hinted: “Florence thinks she’s ready to get back to work after her fiancé’s death two years ago – but she hadn’t banked on her new boss, Neville.

“As she tries to understand his peculiarities, sparks are bound to fly.”

Neville hasn’t been everyone’s cup of tea since he arrived on the island of Saint Marie, but like all detectives over the years, you have to give them time to mature, and then you learn to love their quirks.

At the end of season eight, Florence entered a dark warehouse by herself, and shots were heard.

Curiosity had lead her to the warehouse after Patrice met with a mystery visitor.

But, this was when she saw Patrice get shot following the murder of the island’s festival queen Tiana Palmer (Nicole Lecky).

As Florence called out for her fiance, viewers didn’t yet know that Patrice had been killed in the attack.

Luckily Florence was unharmed, but the scars of what she saw in the warehouse and having to come to terms with not being able to marry her one true love became too much for her.

Then, at the beginning of series nine, she told DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) that every part of the island reminded her of her fiance and that she would have to step away for a while.
