Death in Paradise's Danny John-Jules breaks silence on absence from series 10 as Officer Dwayne Myers

DEATH in Paradise's Danny John-Jules has broken his silence on his absence from series 10 as Officer Dwayne Myers.

The 60-year-old actor left the hit BBC crime drama in series seven, when Dwayne decided to go travelling with his long lost dad, Nelson.

Series 10 returned last week, and across the course of the new episodes, a whole host of familiar faces will return, starting with Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert).

However, some fans were wondering if Danny would be back on the fictional island of Saint Marie, with one writing on Twitter: “#DeathinParadise What happened to Dwayne? Loved him (and all the characters).”

They then added: "Amazingly [he was written out] at the end of series seven when his father returned from London.

"I am at such a loose end that I went back over the episodes to find out.”

Danny replied to the tweets, writing: "And I thought Dwayne was #Baffled.”

Whether this means Danny could return as Dwayne in the future – considering the show has been recommissioned for a further two series – remains to be seen.

However, executive producer Tim Key recently told the media that he hadn't ruled out the possibility of Danny or former show lead Kris Marshall returning in the future.

He said: “Never say never. But, that’s all I can say. I'm trying to be mysterious like it's something big.”

Tim continued: “The joyous thing is we do genuinely stay in touch and I'm in touch with Kris quite often as well.

“You know I think that because they've got such affection for the show we wouldn't rule anything out if there was a good story to tell.”

Death in Paradise continues on Thursday, January 21 at 9pm on BBC One.
