‘Didn’t know who he was’ The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett in shock confession

ITV viewers quickly became hooked with The Masked Singer over the last few weeks as the stars have been gradually unmasked. Tomorrow night will see either Octopus, Hedgehog or Queen Bee crowned the winner. However, Joel Dommett admitted he “didn’t know” who contestant Alan Johnson was after he was unmasked as Pharaoh.

The series has seen 12 celebrities put on a mask as each week has seen another star forced to reveal their true identity.

The panel, consisting of Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Ken Jeong have desperately tried to work out who is behind the masks.

Stars revealed so far include EastEnders actor Patsy Palmer, pop-star Kelis and The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins.

Last weekend saw a double elimination as both Monster and Fox were revealed as Cee Lo Green and Denise Van Outen respectively.

The second celebrity exposed was Alan Johnson, the former Home Secretary as the singing Pharaoh.

Viewers were stunned to see the former politician but it seemed to be wasted on presenter Joel Dommett as he made a shock confession earlier today.

Speaking on This Morning to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Joel admitted he didn’t know who Alan was as he was revealed.

He told the pair: “Honestly some people they’re so big, obviously you have to cater to everyone, there’s such a wide viewership on ITV.

“I’m not personally into politics, I don’t really know all the characters from it and so when Alan Johnson was revealed…

“There was a moment when they were in my ear, they were like ‘it’s Alan Johnson’ and I was like ‘oh my god, who is Alan Johnson.’

“Obviously the country goes ‘oh wow, they’re huge’, not expecting it at all, but I was like ‘oh cool,’” he added.

Since Alan’s reveal all the way back in the first week of the competition, eight more stars have been eliminated from the competition.
