Years and Years singer Olly Alexander impressed fans with his acting skills in the Channel 4 drama It’s a Sin. Now taking time to focus more on his music career and his next album, Lorraine Kelly wanted to know when viewers could next expect him on their screens.
In 2017 actress Jodie made history as the first-ever female Doctor Who and, after a successful run, has decided to step down as the Time Lord.
Serving as the 13th person to hold the mantle on the BBC series, fans are speculating as to who could next step into the Tardis.
One British performer’s name has been thrown around lately, which could have him down to lead the Tardis and a band of time misfits on their next adventure.
Talking to Lorraine on Tuesday morning, Olly denied any rumours and divulged he was “definitely” not the next Doctor.

Lorraine said: “You’ve got to do more acting!”
“I know you are very focused on the album and your new music, of course.”
Talking about her love of It’s a Sin and how well it was received, she wondered if he would be exploring his acting career more.
“But you are in this incredible position where you have been in one of the most successful and most enjoyed and most talked-about dramas; it would be crazy not to do more. ” she continued.
Smiling, Olly replied: “Thank you, I’d love to. I definitely will at some point.
“I just don’t know what it will be. I would love to play like a sexy witch with special powers.”
The award-winning show about the aids crisis in the 1980s was created and written by Russell T Davies, who just so happens to be back on the set of Doctor Who as the showrunner, a position he has held before.
The Scottish TV host quickly asked if Olly would be appearing in the BBC time-travelling show.
Lorraine continued: “What about sexy witch Doctor Who? As you know, everybody wants you to do it.”
A very flattered Olly didn’t give her the answer she wanted and replied: “It would be amazing, but I’m definitely not the Doctor.
“But I love the show, and I can’t wait to watch it when it gets rebooted.”
On the possibility of “bouncing in”, Lorraine asked if he would be up for a cameo, where he pointed out that his A Second to Midnight singing partner Kylie Minogue had done this previously.
Lorraine ended with: ” Well, If it’s good enough for Kylie…”
Olly also touched on his Doctor Who rumours while talking to Rylan on The One Show.
Other rumoured potential candidates include previous Doctor David Tennant, Michael Sheen and Michaela Coel, to name a few.
Whovians will have to sit tight and wait until the BBC announces the next Doctor.
