DOI cast ‘banned’ from talking about Maura and Alexander’s ‘close’ relationship

The cast of Dancing On Ice were gagged from speaking about Maura Higgins ' "close" relationship with her skating partner, Alexander Demetriou, according to reports.

Maura split from her Love Island boyfriend Curtis Pritchard split last week after eight months together.

And it was revealed just days later her skating partner on the show, Alexander's marriage to his wife of three years, Carlotta Edwards, was "broken beyond repair".

This put the relationship between the skating partners under the microscope as viewers wondered if it was the reason they split from their respective partners.

It's now been alleged that other members of the cast in the show, which was won by Joe Swash, have been ordered not to comment on it – not even to defend Maura and Alexander.

A source told The Sun : "[Show bosses] told everyone that nobody should make a comment on social media or talk to fans or media about the story – even if it's to defend Maura or Alexander."

A rep for ITV denied the claims were true, and MirrorOnline has reached out to a rep for Maura for comment.

It was also reported Maura was kept away from Carlotta behind the scenes, to ensure a fight didn't break out.

Concerned TV bosses were reportedly keeping the two women from coming into close contact with each other during the final.

The make-up team were reportedly briefed on working on the stars at different times to avoid a backstage clash.

However, sources confided in The Mirror the stars were in high spirits and there were no signs of tension.

Carlotta and Alexander have denied their marriage is on the rocks, with Carlotta posting a loved up selfie together with the caption: "Love this one so much. Can’t wait for you guys to see the voting window routine. It’s truly magical."

Maura announced her split from dancer Curtis via Instagram after the pair were not pictured together since the NTAs in January.

Rumours were flying they had a fight after he said she only got the red carpet presenting gig because of his fame.

She wrote: "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate. We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.

"There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side.

"We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."
