At long last, the first real look at Season 2 of Doom Patrol has arrived. The series, which originated on the DC Universe streaming service will be available there and on the new HBO Max platform when it debuts.
The trailer sets up the story2, which will see a new member join the team of superhero misfits. Dorothy Spinner is the daughter of The Chief–the surrogate father of the Doom Patrol–and, according to him, “she will unleash hell on Earth.” Given that this is Doom Patrol, a TV show that saw a farting donkey contain a pocket universe the gang went to in Season 1, that should probably be taken literally.

Dorothy’s arrival will play a pivotal part in the new batch of episodes as the team attempts to find a way to trust The Chief after he betrayed them in Season 1. A description of the new season reads, “Cliff Steele aka Robotman, Larry Trainor aka Negative Man, Rita Farr aka Elasti-Woman, Jane aka Crazy Jane, and Victor Stone aka Cyborg–are back again to save the world. That is, if they can find a way to grow up… both figuratively and literally. Following the defeat of Mr. Nobody, the members of the Doom Patrol now find themselves mini-sized and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. Here they begin to deal with their feelings of betrayal by Niles Caulder aka The Chief, while confronting their own personal baggage. And as each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner, Niles’ daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world.”
The first three episodes of Doom Patrol will arrive on Thursday, June 25, on both DC Universe and HBO Max. Subsequent Season 2 episodes will release weekly on Thursdays after that.
