Newlywed bliss soon gives way to out and out horror for Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) on Emmerdale as she’s kidnapped in an upcoming episode and suffers a terrifying ordeal.
A few weeks ago Laurel, Jai (Chris Bisson) and the family said goodbye to Marshall (Max Fletcher), the boy who’s been staying with them since they discovered his father, Colin (Mark Noble), had been subjecting him to violence and making his life miserable with his homophobic views.
Marshall left the village to go and live with his late mum’s sister, and when Colin found out about this he was furious and blamed Jai and Laurel for his son leaving the area.

The couple put this behind them as they focused on their wedding, which took place against a backdrop of Jai still being angry with Rishi (Bhasker Patel) for keeping the identity of his biological father a secret.
In the wake of this and Rishi’s shock death, Jai plans a trip to India. He plans to go alone, but when Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) questions whether this is the right thing for him, Laurel decides she’ll go too.
Before that can happen Colin makes an appearance at the opening of the new bus stop in the village, where he launches into a rant at Jai and Laurel for ruining his life.
When Laurel has to go to get Marshall’s passport to send on to him at his new address, she’s met by Colin, who’s in a seriously unpleasant mood. Laurel’s worried as his manner gets more and more nasty until finally he locks her in Marshall’s bedroom.
Without her phone, Laurel is unable to let anyone know where she is and she desperately tries to reason with Colin. As her negotiations fail she begins to despair and resorts to praying that someone will come and find her. Colin’s behaviour, meanwhile, is getting more and more unstable and he seems capable of anything.
Laurel seizes her chance to escape and hits Colin over the head, only to find that the door is locked and she can’t get out.
Back in the village Jai, Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) and Nicola are becoming increasingly concerned when Laurel doesn’t return.
Will they ever see her again?
