Chi Chi DeVayne’s family has released a statement following the tragic news that the Drag Race star had died aged 34.
The season eight and All Stars Three queen had become beloved for her Louisiana glamour, southern twang, positive attitude and ability to lip-sync like no other.
Sadly on Thursday it was announced that she had died after being in and out of hospital with a series of illnesses, including suspected kidney failure and later pneumonia.
A statement released on behalf of the Davenport/Wyandon family read: ‘It is with tremendous sorrow that my family and I announce the passing of my beloved son, Zavion Michael Davenport, the world renowned Chi Chi DeVayne.
‘Out of respect for the immediate family, please await additional information and directives regarding the final arrangements, memorials, and the method to remit condolences and expressions of kindness.
‘His final words to his family and fans, “Never Give Up!”’

Staying positive until the end, Chi Chi had been updating fans on her wellbeing via her Instagram stories, even when she was receiving dialysis.
Her death has rocked the drag community as a whole, with dozens of former Drag Race queens sharing their devastation at the loss, and their fond memories of Chi Chi and their time together.
This included host RuPaul, who said he was ‘heartbroken’ by the news.
Among the tributes, The Vixen, who starred on Drag Race two years after Chi Chi, wrote: ‘When I first saw Chichi on tv it made me believe that one day I could be there too. I first met her as a fan and I burst into tears. She hugged me, then we smoked!
‘We’ve traveled together a lot since then. it’s an honour to call her sister. Zavion will forever be missed.’
‘I remember making such a big deal about bringing her onstage,’ they added in another message. ‘I just wanted her to feel the love that so many have for her.
‘She’s incredibly humble & deserves more than the world gave her. I’m glad she’s free from pain. I hope she feels the love today. Rest In Peace sister…’
