Eastenders' Aaron Sidwell reveals Steven Beale's game plan ahead of shocking brain tumour lie

STEVEN Beale will do anything to keep Lauren Branning with him in EastEnders.

Actor Aaron Sidwell – who plays the unhinged restaurant manager in the BBC soap – has revealed that there is nothing Steven won't do to keep his family together, and his brain tumour lie is just the start.

"Steven Steven is willing to do whatever it takes to keep hold of the people he loves," the actor told We Love TV.

"Whether they love him or not is beside the point. He believes he can make them love him."

Desperate to stop Lauren leaving him, Steven claimed he'd repeatedly bashed his head against a wall once he found out the news in a bid to "get the tumour out."

In reality he whacked his head after Lauren's boss Josh, who Steven suspects her of having an affair with, visited him to tell him Lauren had quit her job.

After finally tracking Lauren down after hearing she was going to New Zealand, she asked him what had happened to his head and tended to a cut.

He lied: "When I heard I just had to get it out.

"I just kept smashing my head against the wall saying 'get out, get out.'"

When Lauren asked what he was talking about, he told her: "The brain tumour. I've got cancer, Lauren. I'm dying."

In a dramatic episode, Steven also slept with Lauren's sister Abi, with the manipulative character telling him: "You and me are the same. We're not nice people."

Lauren and Josh finally admitted their feelings for each other in a heart to heart, with Lauren giving him a peck on the cheek and explaining that she would tell Steven their relationship is over.

Steven's lie had Twitter fuming, with one fan writing: "That is some sick sh*t Stephen! #EastEnders only a selfish manipulative person would do something like that @bbceastenders ??"

Another vented: "Disgusting story line. I thought better of Eastenders"

A third said: "The lengths some people will go to to keep someone ? #eastenders #stephen"

"So annoyed right now ? #EastEnders," moaned a fourth.

One commented: "Steven that is vile #eastenders"

The unhinged restaurant manager – who is played by actor Aaron Sidwell in the BBC soap – has slowly been descending into madness as his jealousy over girlfriend Lauren clashes with his demons and has seen him totally lose it.

In last night's episode of the soap Steven was left broken after losing his ability to stalk Lauren.

When Josh arrived at his house looking for Lauren, Steven attacked him assuming he had proof of their imagined affair.

But when Josh dropped the news that Lauren had quit her job, Steven ran back inside the house and began headbutting the wall.

The disturbing scenes were quite enough for fans to jump to conclusions and begin thinking that Steven was one headbutt away from becoming a soap serial killer like Corrie’s legendary Richard Hillman.

“Steven really needs help, so does Lauren,” wrote one fan.

“Another added: “Genuinely terrified that Steven is going to murder Lauren.”
