Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) was determined to not waste a single second longer in EastEnders after news of Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) cancer diagnosis, as he reunited with Callum Highway (Tony Clay).
The mechanic, as viewers know, previously told Callum that – despite him still having feelings for him – they didn’t have a future together.
The couple, known to fans as Ballum, initially split after Callum came to believe Ben had cheated on him with Lewis Butler (Aidan O’Callaghan), unaware that he’d actually been raped.
Ben subsequently spiralled, took drugs and nearly died, and – after a showdown with Lewis at a warehouse – he decided to report his ordeal to the police, which is when Callum came to realise what had happened.
The policeman has made it very clear that he still loves Ben, and while Ben reciprocates these feelings, he was adamant that they were over for good.
Ben has been focused on being there for daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) in recent months, and earlier this week, he vowed to support Lola, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Thursday’s (October 27) edition of the serial drama proved a difficult one for him, however, as he came to discover Lexi already knew of her mum’s diagnosis.
Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), meanwhile, broke down in his arms, explaining that he wishes he never wasted so much time being apart from Lola when they could’ve been together.
His heartfelt words ultimately inspired Ben, who subsequently told Callum that he still loves him and therefore doesn’t want to waste any more time not being with him.
Callum was overwhelmed, as he told Ben that he never stopped loving him either, and the two passionately kissed before embracing, happy to be back in one another’s arms.
No, you’re crying.
