EastEnders fans ‘figure out’ Mr P’s identity after mysterious arrival in Walford

EastEnders fans were surprised to get introduced to the mysterious Mr P on Monday's show, as he chased Karen Taylor down the street.

Karen made it clear Mr P was linked to the launderette, leaving many to assume he was the great-grandson of the legendary Mr Papadopolous.

When he asked Karen if she'd be up for going for a drink with him, she was quick to turn him down, heading straight to a coffee shop.

However, later she was convinced to call him up to go to the Queen Vic, wondering whether Mr P felt a spark between them.

Watching from home, viewers were convinced Mr P was the great-grandson of the launderette boss, who has been a mysterious presence in the square for decades.

One Twitter user wrote: "Mr P he must be the great-grandson of the one who ran the launderette in Dots youth #EastEnders."

"We haven't seen Mr Papadopolous in ages," added a second.

And a third penned: "Who's Mr P on #EastEnders?????"

The original Mr Papadopolous made his first appearance in 1985, with his name regularly mentioned by Dot Cotton in the years to follow.

Dot, played by the legendary June Brown, often got his name wrong, referring to him as Opodopoulos.

Mr Papadopolous Senior sadly died in 1992 while on holiday in Greece – but it appears the younger generation of the family has taken over.

While Karen assumed they were meeting for a date, Mr P embarrassed Karen by making it clear the arrangement was strictly business.

When he remarked that she looked nice, Karen replied: "Thanks! I’m even wearing my nice bra."

"Are you going somewhere after this?" he replied, leaving Karen hurrying to cover up her outfit.

Mr P delivered a second blow moments later, when he revealed he was sacking her from her job at the launderette.

He remarked: "Well in that case I'll make this quick. As you know the launderette is a family business and we like to reward loyalty

But I’m afraid times are tough and I’m so sorry to do this to you but we just can’t afford to keep you on."
