EastEnders viewers were in tears last night as Bex Fowler tried to take her own life in harrowing scenes last night.
Over the last few weeks, fans have watched with unease as Bex has fallen into a deep depression, struggling to deal with the pressure of getting into university.
Despite obtaining a place at Oxford University, Bex continued to feel the pressure of meeting expectations and leaving Walford.
In utterly devastating scenes, Bex left her party in full swing to head back to her bedroom and take pills while she was all alone.
But a drastic change to a normal episode of EastEnders saw a flash-forward to the morning after and a traumatic twist.
Lisa Fowler, who has desperately tried to offer Bex help the night before, told Louise to check how her friend was doing.
Bex's phone was seen ringing on the floor as Sonia walked into Bex's room and discovered her lifeless body.
Horrified Sonia frantically tried to wake her daughter but she was unresponsive and her arm slumped over the side of the bed.
Viewers were left in tears over the traumatic episode, with many saying that they could relate to Bex's struggle.
One tweeted: "F*** me #eastenders has me in bits a lot atm what with the ruby, tiff and bex storylines đ itâs important to spread awareness but itâs so real for some people, so triggering."
While another commented: "I just watched #EastEnders and Bex's suicide scenes were so powerful I almost cried. I could feel it in the pit of my stomach. Watching the lead up, her actually taking the pills and the next morning all in one episode was pretty heavy but it was very well done."
