EastEnders fans work out Phil Mitchells exit in chilling murder twist

EastEnders: Cindy returns to Albert Square

EastEnders fans have theorised Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden) will be the man to die in The Vic on Christmas Day.

February’s flash-forward showed six of Walford’s women gathered over a dead body in the pub, and all that was revealed to viewers was that the victim was male.

With Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) are all in the mix, EastEnders bosses are keeping fans on their toes.

One Reddit user put forward evidence that Phil will be the victim, and it seems the theory is plausible.

They wrote: “Phil Mitchell is linked to all six women in the Queen Vic: he was formerly married to Sharon and had a 33-year turbulent friendship with her, he was formerly married to Kathy, he had a child with Denise, he was attacked by Stacy in 2019 and had caused years of grief for her afterwards, he had lost the Queen Vic to Linda and the Carters, and his son was responsible for the son of Suki’s death.

“Phil’s feud with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) stemmed from his affair with Sharon so if Sharon were to marry Keanu (which has been heavily indicated) then Phil would not take kindly to that and this could cause him to behave violently perhaps causing a death as the women rush to protect themselves from harm.”

The fan also noticed the significance of the date of the preview for the upcoming episode.

“The trailer for the Christmas 2023 event was released on YouTube on the 20th February 2023 which was the same date as when Phil Mitchell first stepped foot into Walford (20th February 1990).”

Could the eagle-eyed viewer be correct?

Phil’s name hasn’t come up much in predictions about the Christmas victim, but he is one of the few Albert Square men to have a significant connection to each of the women as well as the Vic.

Phil has been a key character in the soap for 33 years – could he be about to make his final exit?

EastEnders continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
