Max Branning (Jake Wood) has lost a lot in his life over the past few years in EastEnders.
Since crying out his dastardly revenge plan back in 2017, his daughter Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) left him for a new life in New Zealand, while his other daughter Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) tragically died.
He’s currently living with Jack (Scott Maslen) with not a lot to look forward to.
More recently, Max fell in love with Linda (Kellie Bright), but now that she’s back with Mick (Danny Dyer), Max has become a man on mission — determined to win Linda back.
He’s been gathering intel, and tries to blackmail Phil (Steve McFadden).
Max is prepared to do whatever it takes in upcoming episodes to win back Linda, and Jake Wood has revealed whether the character is worried about the consequences he could face after crossing Phil Mitchell:
‘I don’t think so!’ Jake told Metro.co.uk. ‘Not at this point. He’s got his mind set in terms of what he wants to achieve, he wants to get Linda. He thinks that blackmailing Phil will lead to a chain of events that will help him get Linda back. He’s lost the plot in some ways.’
Max is currently under the impression that if he can somehow impress Linda, it will mean she will turn her back on Mick and be with him instead.
Given how solid Mick and Linda are as a couple, does he really think a ‘surprise’ will be enough to convince Linda to leave her soulmate?
He’s going to pretty extreme lengths, and Jake gave his thoughts on the character’s behaviour.

‘He’s deluded in terms of what he wants and what he thinks he can get,’ the actor said. ‘Linda has been very clear with him in terms of what she wants.
She’s made it clear she doesn’t want to have a relationship with him, but Max is not taking no for an answer.’
